2024 AAU Girls Details
Girls, grades 3-10 (as of Fall 2023)
*Third graders will be trying out to play with the 4th graders. We will NOT hold any 3rd grade teams in 2023.
Our Legacy Hoops East teams will be based out of our Legacy Hoops Woodbury location. If you prefer, you can sign up for our Legacy Hoops West Tryouts. These teams will be playing out of our Legacy Hoops West Hopkins facility if that location is more convenient for you. Our focus for all of our AAU teams, both East and West, is heavy skill development, relationship building, college exposure/recruiting, and having fun. We believe it is important to maintain a level of competitiveness without sacrificing the core values of kids having fun in the process.
Tryouts sessions are $15 for each one you sign up for. All tryout participants in attendance must register online. Each session is paid for individually, and you may attend as many tryouts sessions as you’d like. Please note we will offer spots at EACH tryout session. Spots will be offered until all teams are completely filled. We highly suggest being at the early tryout sessions in order to make the team you desire before spots are filled.
We do ask each player to bring a reversible jersey, or shirt with a number on it, so we can identify each player. Check-ins for each session will begin 20 minutes prior to tryouts so that we may start on time.
Parents will NOT be allowed to stay in the gym or lobby during tryouts.
We will ONLY call players that MAKE THE TEAM. If your daughter does not make a team, you will NOT be notified. If your daughter makes a team you will be notified day of the tryout or the following day by midnight. If you are offered a spot and DO NOT accept the spot within 24hrs of when the spot was offered, it will be offered to another player. Once your spot on a team is accepted, we will collect a $250 deposit day of acceptance, or the following day, in order to hold your roster spot and make it official. Please be ready to make that deposit at time of acceptance. NO spot is saved until the deposit is paid. Additional monthly payments will be made in order to cover total balance before the first tournament.
If you have any questions please contact AAU director Demondi Johnson

2024 AAU Season Info:
For the 2023 season, fees for grades 3-11 ranged from $500-$1,350, and varied based on the number of tournaments, out-of-state tournaments, roster spots, and other factors. We do NOT pay for travel expenses for out of state tournaments or AAU cards. Uniforms are included in the fees and will be collected at the end of each season. We will collect a team deposit of $250 once a commitment is made in order to secure your roster spot, and remaining fees will be paid BEFORE the FIRST tournament. Half of team fees are due by January 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS! Roster spots will not be protected if fees are not paid, and those spots can be replaced and athletes will not be able to play. Payment plans are available to help in any way we can, but you must communicate your financial need up front upon accepting a roster spot. We will be very firm on this stipulation this upcoming season.
PLEASE NOTE: There are NO REFUNDS once a commitment is made to accept a roster spot, including the deposit as well as other payments made towards the team fees.
Tournament play will begin in April. The plan is for final schedules to be set and available once we have fully evaluated teams, but no later than March 1st if there is a delay. There will be between 5-10 tournaments. Number of tournaments will vary by age and level of the team. Teams will play locally, regionally and nationally according to age and level of the team. Tournaments may/can be added as the season progresses per coach and player commitment.
Our 15U-17U Elite teams will be playing on the Elite 40 League, which is one the best leagues/circuits in the country.
Practice is the most important part to our program. Not just practice but teaching and DEVELOPMENT. Player development is a very large focus in our program and making sure kids are getting better and not just playing games.
Spring & Summer AAU season practices will begin in March. Each team on average will practice two times per week. Each practice will range from 90-120 minutes unless the coach schedules differently. Most practices will be held on weeknights, NO WEEKENDS, again unless coach and team decide on it. Practice location for our Legacy Hoops East teams will be held at the Legacy Hoops Basketball Academy (Woodbury) or surrounding areas if space is needed. The plan is to have the official nights of practice set no later than March 1st.
*Unless communicated with the coach, it is very important that players are committed and consistently attend practices in order to get the proper playing time, etc. This includes those playing other sports.
We have a unique partnership with Honest Game, which is a public benefit corporation that empowers schools and student-athletes with a plan that provides guidance on the classes, grades, and test scores they need to meet NCAA academic eligibility status. Honest Game takes our athletes transcript/test scores and translates it into a College Athletic Report on Eligibility (CARE®). CARE® serves as an extra set of eyes, tracks all your academic requirements, and ensures you are taking all the proper courses and counting towards for NCAA eligibility.
Multi Sport Athletes
We absolutely support and encourage multi sport athletes in our program. We know the importance of kids being well rounded athletes along with simply being kids, however, we do ask for a balance with both basketball and the other sport or sports. A commitment to basketball is a requirement to play in our program, as we want consistency so each team can be as competitive as possible. All other sport schedules should be provided ahead of time to structure the proper plan for practice attendance. There is a requirement to be at practices during the week in order to play in games. Please be sure to accept spots only if you can have a flexible balance and commitment to basketball.
